Photography & Covid-19: What I’m doing to keep your experience safe & stress-free

As I open up my diary again for bookings, I’ve put in place various measures to keep you safe whilst you smile in front of my camera. It’s always been my top priority to make those who step in front of my camera feel as comfortable as possible. Being COVID secure is definitely a part of that in today’s world.

Wedding Photography

Planning a wedding can be stressful as it is without a pandemic thrown into the mix! I sympathise with all the couples that have had to put their plans on hold and have their hopes for their dream wedding dashed. Going forward, I’m doing everything I can to make the current situation as stress-free as possible for couples that book their wedding photography with me.

Your complementary photography consultation

Firstly, I’ll be carrying out all wedding photography consultations over the phone or via Facetime/Zoom. As much as I love meeting with prospective couples over coffee, it’s the safest option right now. These consultations, in my opinion, are super important in the process of choosing your wedding photographer!

Deposits & Payments

Budgeting and deposits are a real worry for many couples planning their weddings right now due to the uncertainty of when/what restrictions will be lifted. All of my wedding photography packages are competitively priced and are available to book with only a 20% deposit. The remaining balance is only due 30 days before your wedding date. Should you need to postpone and change your date due to Covid, I’m more than happy to work with you to arrange a new date. If I am available on your new date you will retain your deposit and will not need to pay any additional fees. If you choose to go ahead but with a smaller ceremony and have a reception at a later date, if I’m available, I’m happy to cover both celebrations for no additional fee, should you have purchased a package with reception coverage.

Illness

If I should become ill or need to self-isolate you will either recover any and all fees paid OR an associate photographer will be hired to photograph your wedding on my behalf. The final images will then be edited and delivered to you by me. I’m lucky to be part of an amazing network of photographers here in North East of Scotland and will do everything I can to find a replacement should this situation arise.

Face-coverings

Lastly, I’ll be wearing a face-covering throughout my time with you even whilst I keep my distance from you where possible.

Indoor Portrait Photography Sessions

I’m currently not taking any bookings for indoor portrait sessions. Indoor portraiture often involves the photographer remaining closer to the subject due to space constraints making social distancing difficult. In addition, under Scottish Coronavirus guidance, photography studios are classed as ‘shops’. At this time the wearing of face coverings is mandatory for anyone over the age of 5 in any ‘shop’. This would make it hard to photograph your beautiful smiles!

Outdoor Portrait Photography Sessions

I am still taking bookings for outdoor portrait sessions including family, couple, engagement and headshot sessions! I personally prefer outdoor portraiture and there are so many beautiful locations around Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire to choose from. Autumn is here, and in my option is the best season for outdoor portraits!

Physical Distancing

I will be keeping a 2m distance at all times during my session with you. I have a good selection of lenses, so keeping a distance doesn’t mean you’ll be tiny in all the photographs I take. For headshot sessions, I regularly use a telephoto lens and shoot from a distance.

Rescheduling

I will reschedule your session for free should I or anyone in your household develop symptoms and/or need to self-isolate. Please inform me if this is the case and please ask to reschedule, even if it’s the day of your session.

Commercial & Interior Real Estate Photography

I can confirm that I am still taking commercial and real estate photography bookings within 30mi of Aberdeen City Centre. However, during this time I am currently not taking any booking for indoor headshots or commercial portraits.

Face -coverings & other measures

Throughout my photography session or shoot with you, I’ll be wearing a face covering. In addition, I sanitise all my equipment between sessions and carry hand sanitiser on me at all times. I’ll be keeping a minimum 2m distance from you or any staff during your session or shoot. I ask you that you please do the same.

If required, I will ask you to open and/or close doors, turn lights on/off and move objects. If possible, doors should be open, and lights all switched on to allow me to move through your business or premises without touching any surfaces.

Rescheduling

I’m more than happy to work with you if you need to reschedule your shoot or session due to COVID. I won’t charge any additional fees for this.
