Choosing your photographer

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that you probably have several tabs open, looking at various wedding photographers websites and you are just waiting to find THE ONE. The one who gives you butterflies, the one that you know will photograph your special day how you imagined it in your dreams, the one who will do everything they can to take the stress away and who will be there for you every step of the way.  Well, you can stop searching.

CONGRATS, YOU'RE ENGAGED!

You have found her (me!)

After the cake has been eaten, the flowers have wilted and the dress has been cleaned and put away; your wedding photographs are likely to be one of the few things you have left from your wedding day to treasure and look back on for years to come. This massive responsibility is why I only take on a limited number of weddings a year so I can give you 110%. I will take the time to get to know you as a couple and go the extra mile; to ensure you are comfortable in front of my camera come your wedding day and not a detail is missed. This is what ultimately allows me to capture natural and honest images of the beautiful relationship you are celebrating. You can read more about my photography approach and style here

The Experience

I. Explore & get in touch

Thank you for taking the time to look and find out more about my work! I've tried to fill my website with as much useful information as possible for my couples so please, go ahead and explore!

If you like what you see, then head to the bottom of this page and fill out the contact form (or alternatively, you can get in touch via email). Tell me all about your wedding plans and feel free to include a link to your Pinterest wedding board if you have one too! I personalise every wedding experience to each couple (as no two weddings are the same!) so the more I know about you, the better. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours but I can take a little longer on weekends if I'm out shooting a wedding or event.

II. Quote & Consultation

Once I've received your enquiry, and if I'm available on your date, I'll send over a selection of quotes for you to view in your own personal client portal based on the information you've provided. I'll also arrange a complementary in person or video-call wedding consultation with you so I can get to know you and find out more about your wedding needs and dreams are so I can tailor your photography experience to you.

I HIGHLY recommend you talk to any photographer that you are interesting in booking, either in person or over Facetime/Zoom as it's so, so important you get along with and feel comfortable around your photographer on the day of your wedding.

III. Secure your date

Securing your wedding date with me is super straight forward and can all be done within your client portal (CP)! I do recommend having your consultation with me first but if you are really keen to get everything booked, just let me know. All you need to do is:
• Complete a short questionnaire that I'll send out to you via email. This just makes sure I have all the correct information including names and contact details.
• Review the quotes in your CP and select the package you wish to book.
• Sign the wedding photography contract in your CP.
• View the invoice in your CP and pay a 20% retainer. This can be done within the CP by credit/debit card or there is also the option to bank transfer.

And whoop! You're all booked! Please note that I cannot hold dates unless the retainer is paid and contract signed.

IV. Pre-wedding

If your package includes a pre-wedding/engagement session or you wish to book one with me, I'll get a date scheduled in with you for your session. You can schedule your session for whenever you want from 1 year before your wedding to 1 week! I personally recommend having your session in Spring or Autumn, if you can, to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and light at these times of year!

A pre-wedding or engagement portrait session is a great way for me to get you know you as a couple and for you to build confidence and become comfortable with being in front of the camera, hence why I include one with all my Full & Half Day packages.

Some of my couples like to organise their session alongside their make-up and/or hair trial or even make it a part of date night! It's a great excuse to get all glammed up.

V. The Final Details

Around 1 month before your wedding I'll be in touch again to finalise timings and locations. I'll also ask for your list of requested family and group portraits. This allows me to plan these in advance so we can get these done as quickly as possible on the day so everyone can go enjoy the party!

If you have any worries or queries at any other point in the run up to your wedding, please get in touch! My interaction with you will not be limited to just the booking process and your actual wedding day. I'm there to help you at any point, in any way I can!

In the week or two before your wedding, I'll visit your venues (if possible) to scout out all the best locations for your portraits and familiarise myself with the venue layout, if I haven't shot there before. I'll also take my time to introduce myself to your officiant and/or wedding coordinator.

VI. The Big Day!

It's finally here! On your wedding day, I'll arrive about half an hour before I'm due to start to set up my equipment. I'll then come find you or your partner and get shooting!

For the majority of the day I'll be in the shadows, shooting away without too much direction. There's certain moments you just need to let happen naturally. For the rest of the day, I'll be as hands on as you want me to be. I'll be there to fix your veil or hold your train if you need me too but at the end of the day your wedding photographs should be about your wedding and your relationship; not about me or anything else.

I won't keep you away from your guests too long when shooting your couples portraits; let me know how much time you have and I'll keep to YOUR schedule (I usually recommend 15-30mins). There definitely won't be any awkward or traditional posing either!

The Investment

Bespoke packages & Pricing

No two weddings or elopements are the same and more often than not,  don't fit into a pre-defined box or package so all my pricing and packages are bespoke to your wedding photography needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you travel?

Yes! I'm based in Aberdeen and Kyle but able to cover weddings anywhere in the Uk. Travel is included within 70mi from AB25 and IV40 postcodes, travel beyond this will incur a charge of 45p/mi and an accommodation charge (if required).

How long are you with us for?

This will depend on the package you decide to book. For Full-Day packages, I'm with you as long as you need me to be and I'm happy to stay well into the evening. I started my photography career in nightlife so I absolutely love capturing the party!

How do we receive our images?

You'll receive all of your wedding images via. your personal, password-protected gallery. A link to it will be sent to you by email when it is ready (around 3-5 weeks post wedding). From the gallery you'll be able to view, favourite and download high-resolution image files. You'll also be able to share this gallery with family and friends so they can view and download web-resolution image files. You and your guests can also purchase prints, albums and more from the online gallery store.

Do you take posed group portraits?

For most the day I'll be shooting away from the shadows, I am more than happy to organise group portraits after the ceremony. These images can mean so, so much to older relatives, so I do recommend having at least a few taken. I'll ask for a list of the portraits you want in advance to speed up the process on the day so everyone can get back to the party asap!

What if it rains!?

The joys of living in Scotland! Don't worry though I always have a rain plan should the weather get in our way. Firstly, I scout out your venue(s) in the weeks before your wedding and make a list of sheltered locations where we can take your couples portraits. I also always carry a couple brollies on me should you want to venture outside. If you are adventurous and don't mind getting a tiny bit wet, then RAIN = EPIC PHOTOGRAPHS. There's also the option to have your outdoor portraits later in the evening, especially in Summer (think stunning sunset photographs).

We love your work! How do we book?

For a full breakdown check out part III of The Experience, but in summary all you need to do to secure your wedding date with me is pay a 20% non-refundable retainer and sign a wedding photography contact. Both of these can be done easily, online through your own client portal. Get in touch by requesting a quote & complimentary consultation here to get the booking process started!
