Finding your
Wedding Photographer

I'm going to hazard a guess and say that you probably have several tabs open, looking at various wedding photographers websites and you are just waiting to find THE ONE. The one who gives you butterflies, the one that you know will photograph your wedding day how you imagined it in your dreams, the one who will do everything they can to take the stress away and who will be there for you every step of the way.  Well, you can stop searching.

Hey there and congrats on your engagement!

And congrats, You have found her (me!)

After the cake has been eaten, the flowers have wilted and the dress has been cleaned and put away; your wedding photographs are likely to be one of the few things you have left from your wedding day to treasure and look back on for years to come. This massive responsibility is why I only take on a limited number of weddings a year so I can give you 110%. I will take the time to get to know you as a couple and go the extra mile; to ensure you are comfortable in front of my camera come your wedding day and not a detail is missed. This is what ultimately allows me to capture natural and honest images of the beautiful relationship you are celebrating. The Experience

I. Explore & get in touch

Thank you for taking the time to look and find out more about my wedding photography! I've tried to fill my website with as much useful information as possible for my couples so please, go ahead and explore!

If you like what you see, then head to the contact page and fill out the contact form.

Tell me all about your wedding plans! I personalise every wedding experience to each couple (as no two weddings are the same!) so the more I know about you, the better. I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours but I can take a little longer on weekends if I'm out shooting a wedding or event.

II. Quote & Consultation

Once I've received your enquiry, and if I'm available on your date, I'll send over a quote for you to view in your client portal based on the information you've provided.

I'll also arrange a complementary wedding consultation with you so I can get to know you both and find out more about your wedding needs and dreams are so I can tailor your wedding photography experience to you.

I HIGHLY recommend you talk to any photographer that you are interesting in booking, either in person or over Facetime/Zoom as it's so, so important you get along with and feel comfortable around your photographer on the day of your wedding.

III. Secure your date

Securing your wedding date with me is super straight forward and can all be done within your personal client portal! I do recommend having your consultation with me first but if you are really keen to get everything booked, just let me know.

All you need to do is:
• Confirm your full names and contact details with me
• "Accept" your quote
• Sign a wedding photography contract
• Pay the £350 non-refundable retainer/booking-fee

And whoop! You're all booked! Please note that I cannot hold dates unless the retainer is paid and contract signed.

IV. Pre-wedding

If your package includes a pre-wedding/engagement session or you wish to book one with me, I'll get a date scheduled in with you for your session. You can schedule your session for whenever you want from 2 years before your wedding to 1 week! I personally recommend having your session in Spring or Autumn, if you can, to take advantage of the beautiful scenery and light at these times of year!

A pre-wedding or engagement portrait session is a great way for me to get you know you as a couple and for you to build confidence and become comfortable with being in front of the camera, hence why I highly recommend having one to all of my couples that are apprehensive about having their photo taken on their wedding day.

V. The Final Details

I'll be in touch periodically in the months before your wedding to help you with your wedding planning and more to make sure we get the best photographs possible on the day.

6 weeks before your wedding I'll be in touch again to finalise timings and locations. I'll also ask for your list of requested family/group portraits. This allows me to plan these in advance so we can get these done as quickly as possible on the day so everyone can go enjoy the party!

In the week or two before your wedding, I'll visit your venues (if possible) to scout out all the best locations for your portraits and familiarise myself with the venue layout, if I haven't shot there before. I'll also take my time to introduce myself to your officiant and/or wedding coordinator.

VI. The Big Day!

It's finally here! On your wedding day, I'll arrive about half an hour before I'm due to start to set up my equipment. I'll then come find you or your partner and get shooting!

For the majority of the day I'll be in the shadows, shooting away without too much direction. There's certain moments you just need to let happen naturally. For the rest of the day, I'll be as hands on as you want me to be. I'll be there to fix your veil or hold your train if you need me too but at the end of the day your wedding photographs should be about your wedding and your relationship; not about me or anything else.

I won't keep you away from your guests too long when shooting your couples portraits; let me know how much time you have and I'll keep to YOUR schedule (I usually recommend min. 30mins). There definitely won't be any awkward or traditional posing either!

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! I have insurance for public liability, professional indemnity and all my professional camera equipment. Please get in touch if your venue requires proof of PLI.

If you're looking for an Aberdeen wedding photographer, I'm your gal! I am, however, more than happy to cover weddings anywhere in mainland Scotland.

Travel is included if your venue is within 50mi (one-way) of AB25, travel beyond this will incur a charge. For venues less than 1.5hrs away travel will be charged at 45p/mi after 50mi (one-way) from AB25. For venues more than 1.5hrs away a £200 overnight fee as well as the travel will be applicable. This is to ensure I'm well rested for your wedding day and to mitigate any issues arising from travel disruption.

I use two professional Canon camera bodies as well as a range of Canon L Series lenses, Sigma Art lenses,  flash guns and light modifiers. The range of lenses I have covers a variety of photographic situations and allows for back-ups should one of them decide not to work!

I also carry plenty of SD cards with me. Whilst I shoot, the photographs taken are automatically backed up in at least one other place than the main SD card. When I get back to my office, these images are backed up again both physically and in the cloud.

Thankfully I’ve not had to deal with equipment failure yet and do all I can to prevent such issues by investing in high quality equipment and looking after my cameras and lenses like they are my babies!

Don't worry, you are not alone! Everyone gets camera shy (it took me weeks to get the confidence to take photos of myself for the website you are currently on!).

I like to make the couples portraits part of the day as fun and relaxed as possible. I shy away from awkward, traditional posing and will often mix up static "posing" with movement and action. I keep direction minimal and simple to not over complicate things so you can just concentrate on enjoying the session and being yourself. This allows me to produce more authentic images that show off  your personality and your relationship as a family or couple (if applicable).

For all couples that book me for their wedding, I include the option of adding on a pre-wedding/engagement shoot for only £150. Think of this as your wedding photo dress-rehearsal! This allows me to get to know you both a bit better before the big day. It also gives you the opportunity to build confidence in front of the camera and to learn how I work so come your wedding day, you're practically models!

I'll send out some guidance beforehand on what to wear to your session. Wearing clothes that you are comfortable in and make you feel confident can make all in the difference when getting your photograph taken. Where possible, we'll also choose a location and time that's quiet so it's just you, me and the camera (and not too many onlookers).

*Jumps around in excitement!* I'm delighted you like my work and are looking to book me for your wedding! First step is to get in touch. You can do this by filling out the contact form here. Please give as much information about your wedding and photography needs as you can.

I'd love to meet up with you in person over coffee or via Facetime/Zoom (coffee optional) to talk about the plans you've made so far and what you are looking for in terms of photography on your big day before you book. Choosing a photographer that gels with you and understands your needs is so important so I highly recommend meeting with any potential wedding photographer before booking.

If you are really keen to secure your date first and don't want to wait, I'm happy to meet up at a later time to discuss your plans. You can secure your date with a £350 non-refundable retainer and signing a wedding photography contact. This can all be done online via your own personal client portal which I will email you a link to. I'll also need to you fill out a short questionnaire just to make sure I have all the correct names and contact details.

This will depend on the wedding photography package you’ve chosen and the nature/time-line of your wedding day. For Full-Day wedding photography you'll receive at least 400 photographs but it can easily be a lot more depending on your day.

You will receive a link and password to your online wedding gallery typically between 5-8 weeks after your wedding day (this can be sooner during winter month or slightly longer in peak months). From your online gallery you can download all high resolution edited images and purchase prints, framed prints, folios, cards and more.

You’ll also receive a sneak-peak preview gallery of around 20 images within 2 weekdays of your wedding so you can share some photographs with your friends and family right away!

Yes! Photographs were not made to live and hide away on hard drives! You may print any high-resolution files that you receive for personal use only (unless written permission from myself has been given for printing for other purposes). I do not recommend the printing of web-resolution files. Details of my copyright policy can be found here

For convenience, you can purchase prints, wall art, greeting cards and more directly from your online gallery that you'll receive after your wedding. No need to download and re-upload!

Absolutely! Once you have received your password protected online gallery you can easily share individual images or the whole gallery with friends and family via social media or email.  You can also choose to make some images private within your gallery should you not wish to share them with your guests.

Gallery guests (friends and family) can also download web resolution image files for free and make purchases from the gallery store.

I edit all my images using Adobe Lightroom. I make basic adjustments (exposure, contrast, colour temperature), apply my signature editing style, de-noise, sharpen and occasionally crop images. I will also occasionally convert images to black & white for a more aesthetically pleasing result.

In some instances I also use Adobe Photoshop, e.g. for bridal portraits, to do some minimal skin and hair retouching (where I see necessary) and to create creative composite images. The majority of my work is photographed in a more 'documentary' style and hence I like to keep editing to a minimum so the images provide a true-to-life story.

Additional requested 'photoshop-ing' and retouching, above and beyond what I see necessary, is subject to additional fees due to the complex and time consuming nature of these editing techniques.

Although the majority of photographs I'll take on your wedding day will be more of a 'documentary' style, I can and will take posed bridal party/family/group photographs too if requested. About 6-8 weeks before your big day I'll send out a questionnaire where you'll be able to let me know which group photographs you want. This helps me plan ahead and capture the photographs you want as quickly as possible so you and your guests can get on and enjoy the day! I'll prioritise these photographs you want as a couple before photographing any guest requests on the day.

I usually take such photographs right after the ceremony whilst everyone is still in the same place and can be found. I start with the largest group photographs first and/or those with very young or old family members or guests in them. The time these photographs will take will depend on the number of photographs requested and the size of the groups. I try to keep the time taken to around 30 mins max. if possible.

As beautiful as Scotland is, the weather can be quite unpredictable and sometimes it does rain (or hail, or sleet!). Please don't worry about this too much though as I always have a rain plan in place if this does happen!

Before your wedding day I'll make a visit to your ceremony and reception venue(s) if I haven't shot there recently to scout out indoor and undercover locations to take your photographs if it does rain. I also keep a close eye on the weather forecast in the run up to your wedding day to see what sort of conditions we might have.

Often there is only showers or drizzle and we can  pop out for a dry 5/10 mins to get some photographs. If you're happy to, we can venture outside with an umbrella or two if it's not too heavy and blustery! Umbrella's give a whole host of creative possibilities! If you are adventurous and don't mind getting a tiny bit wet, then RAIN = EPIC PHOTOGRAPHS. There's also the option to have your outdoor portraits later in the evening, especially in Summer (think stunning sunset photographs).

Not at all! I will always endeavour to visit your wedding ceremony and reception venue(s) with my camera in the weeks or days before your wedding day if I haven't shot at that wedding venue recently or at the same time of year before. I also try and visit at the same time of day as when you'll be having your couple and group photos taken so I can get a good idea of what the natural light will be like. This gives me a chance to scout out locations for your couple photos and to get an idea of what the ceremony and reception spaces are like. I also use the opportunity to introduce myself to the minister, priest and/or wedding coordinator so I can easily coordinate with them on your wedding day if necessary.

If for whatever reason I can't visit your venue(s) in advance, I'll arrive much earlier on the day of your wedding to take a quick look around. I will also look up existing photographs of the venue online to get an idea of what to expect. Although, my time as a nightlife photographer has prepared me well for the unknown and difficult lighting situations should I need to think on my feet!

I've photographed at and are familiar with the following wedding venues in Scotland:
Drumtochty Castle, Aswanley, Barn at Barra, Schivas Steading, Cluny Castle, Elsick House, Gordon Castle, Achnagairn Estate, Logie Country House, Meldrum House, Maryculter House, Banchory Lodge, Raemoir House, Trump International MacLeod House, The Chester Aberdeen, Cortes House, Durn House, Pittodrie House, Thainstone House, The Falls at Feugh, Norwood Hall, The Palm Court, Cambo Country House, Balbirnie House, The Byre at Inchyra, Taypark House, Fingask Castle, The Caledonian Waldorf Astoria, The Old Dr Bells Baths, Eilean Donan Castle and Shieldaig Lodge.

If I'm covering your wedding ceremony and/or bridal prep all the way through to the dancing part of the evening, a main meal would be very much appreciated! I always bring snacks with me but being on your feet for 8+ hours can be tiring and photographers need fuel to run too! It would be preferable if the meal can be served at the same time as the rest of your guests as I don't take photographs during this part of the evening (no one wants a photograph of them eating)! If served earlier or later I could be missing out photographing special moments during your wedding day.

You do not need to provide me with a meal if your coverage ends at the pre-dinner speeches or if you have only booked me to cover your evening reception.

I'm more than happy to photograph you wedding on my own (along with a lighting assistant if needed), however if you are planning a large wedding (100+ day guests), want both partners preparations photographed or you just want lots and lots of candid photographs then you can add-on a second photographer to your chosen investment from £300. I carefully handpick second shooters with previous wedding experience and similar shooting style to me.
